After scoring 6 decorative drawer pulls from Anthropologie (normally $12.95/each, for them for $2.95/each!). Next up was buying a piece of wood (Micheal's), spray paint primer, ivory spray paint, various sandpaper, washers, nuts, along with bolt cutters and a metal filer. All in all, the cost of the project was about $50 (not including the 2 tools), but we'll be able to use the sandpaper and spray paint for other projects!
Back View: Sanded, holes bored for the bolts & washers, hanger hooks in place, drawer pulls with bolts clipped (with bolt cutter) and smoothed (with metal file), so that the entire piece will sit flat against the wall.
Testing out length of the bolts, so that the wood can sit flush against the wall (or in this case, table).

Time to paint! So we (me and my handyman boyfriend Dave) found a large piece of MDF with peg holes in our garage (perfect!), so we fastened flyers to the pegbacker with screws (just shoved through various holes) to ensure we didn't get paint on it (since it's not ours). The we simply hooked the jewellery rack on 2 of the nails, and we're ready to go!
First coat of primer on! I forgot to take a photo after the paint was on, but lets just say I messed up a bit and Dave came to the rescue! So, i've never really spray painted before, and I was holding the can WAY too close, so too much paint...and it started DRIPPING! Dave helped me fix the issue - but due to the fact that there was so much paint, we had a little ridge at the bottom edge...I decide that the best thing to do was get a very fine sandpaper, and sand it down, getting rid of any drip/extra paint marks, giving it slightly more worn/rustic look (well, little bits of primer are now showing through).
All finished!

So, all in all it worked out, with a couple of minor hiccups:
1. I dropped the wood denting it, RIGHT before paint time.
2. I put on too much spray paint, which meant a heavy layer had to go on to fix all the dripping.
3. At some point I dropped one of the drawer pull, and cracked the acrylic (thankfully you can hardly tell) - at this point i'm thinking I should have bought at extra one! (especially since they were only $2.95, and i'm a clumsy person!).
I'll admit that I guess i'm not much of a DIYer, though I wish I was. The whole concept of the project was mine, I chose all the pieces, but my super handy and loving boyfriend ended up doing most of the work (checking in with me at each stage) - I only measure out where the holes should be, and did some of the painting (though I hate admitting this!).
I'll aim to post again soon!
